Pioneer Mitchell county residents Anton and Margaret (Johanns) Pint came to Mitchell County in 1869 and settled on a 160 acre tract in Burr Oak Township, Section 24, about two miles west of New Haven.
Margaret Johanns was born in 1836 at Luxembourg. Margaret and Anton Pint were married in 1861.
Their Chicago home was at the site of the present Cook County Courthouse. Margaret and Anton were the parents of eight children; one that probably died as infant, John, Katherine, Helen, William, Veronica, Anna, and George.
The Pints were members of the Catholic Church at New Haven. At the time of their arrival in Mitchell County, itinerant priests served the gatherings of members, St. Peter's Church was built in 1877.
They were the parents of John, Katherine and Helen (twins), William, Veronica, Anna, and George.
Margaret passed away on March 23, 1873 and is buried at the Osage Cemetery, Osage, Iowa. Anton, with the help of his daughter Helen, raised the family.
