John Casper Pint was born on June 24, 1863 in Chicago, Illinois to Anton and Margaret Johanns Pint. The family moved to Mitchell County, Iowa in 1869. John grew up on a farm in the southeast quarter of Section 24, Burr Oak Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

On February 1, 1893, he married Sophia Clara Braun, daughter of John and Barbara Brown Braun of Stacyville.

Sophia and John made their first home in Stacyville. Later they moved near New Haven, then to Meyer. In 1914, they purchased the Delluge farm on Section 25, Osage Township. They were the parents of thirteen children, Anton John (married Regina Ann Blake) Lawrence Casper, (married Helene (Lena) Koschmeder, William Edward, (married Bessie Pearl Mullen), Frederick Jacob, (married Margaret Bodensteiner) Caroline Anna, (married Lawrence M. Hutchcroft) Bertha Frances, (married John Michels), Gertrude, (married Leslie Lyle Colton), Frank Louis, (married Josephine Anna Emma Koschmeder), Harold F., Margaret Barbara, (married Joseph F. McGrane), Ida Veronica, (married John “Jack” Novotny) John Anthony, (married Edna Cockrum), Joseph John, (married Marcella Bersie),

John Casper passed away on November 20, 1914 at their home and is buried at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage. They had just moved into their home a week before he passed away.

With eleven children at home, they continued to work the farm, John A. later managed the farm for his mother. Sophia spent the rest of her life there and passed away on May 8, 1948 and is buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
