Mrs. Berit Jenson
Mrs. Berit Jenson was born at Aethedalen, Norway, February 23, 1849 and the third child in a family of five children. Mrs. Jenson came to America in her youth and located at Forest City, Iowa.
During the first years of her life in this county she worked as a domestic in different homes in Winnebago County.
On September 21, 1909, she united in marriage with Ole Jenson, of this community. They located in Rock Grove Township, Floyd County, where she continued to live until 1924. Her husband preceded her in death many years ago.
Mrs. Jenson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church before coming to America, and while residing in the community, was affiliated with the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. She had always had a deep interest in the church, and in the ladies' Aid. Having no way of attending services and Aid meetings, as she lived alone, she would walk long distances in order to be present.
Becoming physically and mentally weak it became necessary to send her to the hospital at Independence, where she was confined to her bed for the last ten years. She passed away May 2, 1936.
Funeral services were conducted by the Reverend O. C. Myhre at the Rock Creek Church on May 5, at 2 p.m., and interment was in Rock Creek Cemetery.
