John Schmidt

Funeral services for John Schmidt of Mountain Home, AR were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2 at Twin Lakes Baptist Church. Dr. Sam Bailey officiated. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home of Mountain Home, AR was in charge of arrangements.

John, 93, died Monday, December 27, 1999 at Baxter Regional Medical Center.

John Carl Schmidt was born November 9, 1906 in Sycamore, IL the son of Elizabeth and Leonhardt Schmidt.

On June 2, 1949 he married Vivian J. Noble at Riceville. John received his Master Teachers Degree at Fort Dodge. He taught in the Fort Dodge, Iowa School District for 22 years. He moved to Mountain Home, AR in 1973. He was a teacher and administrator.

He was a member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church, member of Phi Delta Gamma, Christian Leadership Counselor, avid naturalist and traveler, Audubon Society, and woodworker.

Survivors include one son: John Dwayne of Orlando, FL; one daughter: Mary Ann Cramer of Mountain Home, AR; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
