Helen Larsen

Funeral services for Helen Larsen, of Riceville, formerly of Elma, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 30 at the St. Paul Maple Leaf Lutheran Church. The Rev. Myrwood Bagne will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen, 86, died Saturday, December 25, 1999 at the Riceville Community Rest Home.

Helen A. Larsen was born December 19, 1913 on the family farm south of Saratoga, the daughter of Fred and Dorothea (Timmermann) Groth. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended country schools in Saratoga township and continued her education at Cresco High School.

On December 23, 1932 she married Victor T. Larsen. They farmed near Maple Leaf until 1973, then moved in 1974 to Riceville. She lived there until December 2, 1999 when she entered the Riceville Community Rest Home.

Survivors include two sons: Charles and Richard both of Elma; four daughters: Myrna Jacoby of Waterloo, Catherine Rieken of Elma, Norma Pontenberg of Waterloo, and Irene Heying of New Hampton; 24 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Victor; one son: Gordon; two grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; three sisters: Ella Bachmann, Frieda Lauck, and Alice Hartwig; and two brothers: William and Harry Groth.
