The body of Mrs. Mary Winkels, 87, who died at the home of her daughter Mrs. J. J. Goergen, 931 Fourth avenue north, at 1:15 o'clock this morning, was taken to Stacyville, Iowa, today where burial will be held on Monday. Services will take place Monday morning in the Church of the Visitation with the Rev. H. M. Manternach officiating.
Mary Blake was born at Johnsburg, Illinois, June 20, 1851 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Adam Blake. At the age of 25 she was united in marriage to Jacob Winkels who preceded her in death on July 24, 1936. Thirteen children were born to this union, of which number eight survive.
The surviving children are, Anna of Stacyville, Iowa; Frank of Canby, Minn., Elizabeth and Albert, this city, Nick and Henry, McIntire, Iowa; Joseph of Leroy Minn., and Sister Mary Engelberta, Earlville, Iowa. There are 79 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
