OBITUARY: Anders Wamstad, 1850-1928

Anders Wamstad was a native of Norway, born in Hadeland on May 1, 1850.

At the age of sixteen years, he came to America and located temporarily in Clayton County, Iowa. Later he came to this community and located in Rock Township, Mitchell County.

On March 27, 1877, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Ingeborg Dynna, widow of Lars L. Dynna, of Rock Township. He was engaged in farming in Rock and Cedar Townships until the spring of 1915, when he moved to Osage, where he has since made his home.

Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his loss: two children, Brede and Della Wamstad, and the following grandchildren: Constance Wamstad, Mrs. Ingvald (Alice) Sponheim, Mrs. Edwin (Helen) Maakestad, Kalmar, Knud, Louise and Ludvig Klemesrud.

There are also three brothers and one sister surviving: Ole Wamstad of Parma, Idaho; Brede Wamstad, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Iver and Mary of Hadeland, Norway. His stepchildren, Ludvig Dynna and Mrs. Herman K. (Lise) Klemesrud, preceded him in death a few years ago.

The departed brother was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of his native country. When coming to this community, he united with the Rock Creek Lutheran Church and was a member at the time of his death. This church he loved and supported as an active member.

Mr. Wamstad has been enjoying good health and had been an exceptionally strong and industrious man, but during the last two years of his life, his strength had been gradually vanishing.

He died on October 28, 1928, being at the time of his death 78 years, 5 months, and 14 days of age.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre in the home at 1 p.m. and in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. on October 31, 1928. The many memorial wreaths and the large attendance showed the high esteem in which the departed brother was held in the community.

Interment was made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.
