#1:
George S. Eide was born in Norway in August 1869 according to the 1900 U.S. Census, St. Ansgar, dated June 6, 1900.
It said he immigrated in 1889, and was a jeweler and partner in the store owned by Peter Larson, who was born in January 1847.
In the 1895 Iowa Census he is listed in St. Ansgar, and was 26 years old, born in Norway, [which would make his birth date 1869.]

#2:St. Ansgar Enterprise -- Among those from a distance who attended the funeral of George Eide was Rev. Baker of Waterloo, who also assisted in the service. In the evening he preached an interesting sermon from Rom. 14:9. Mr. Baker has a large number of friends here who were very glad to meet him and have the opportunity of hearing him preach again.

St. Ansgar City Cemetery listing on IaGenWeb shows:
EIDE, George E. 1866 -- January 1, 1901
[NOTE: The dates don't agree with the Census or the article, so we believe the cemetery records to be in error.]

GEORGE EIDE, JEWELER
This picture of a young man taken in the late 1880's ran as unidentified in the March 16 issue of the Enterprise.
Linda Moe informs us that the young man was George Eide, who later became a jeweler. She was a high school student at the time (Photo processed from Art Weber's collection).
