Douglas Oscar Roll, Sr.
Douglas O. Roll was born near California, Missouri in 1883, to Sarah & Godfrey Roll. He had three brothers: George, Fred and Bill; and four sisters: Lizzie, Lu, Gertie and Rose.
He married Hilda F. Day of Whitten Iowa on August 31, 1916 and moved to north Iowa and settled in St. Ansgar. They had three children: Keith, Douglas Jr. and Dorothy. Doug and Tillie operated Roll's Coffee Shop for 25 years. He also worked at the St. Ansgar Lumber Co. and was the City Police Officer for many years.
Tillie and Doug retired and lived along the river in Mitchell when he passed away on August 31, 1959.
Burial is in St. Ansgar Cemetery.
