Farmer Is Killed
Blasting Rock

OSAGE, IOWA — Will Shrode was killed late Tuesday afternoon while blasting rock on his farm east of McIntire. A neighbor heard the blast and almost immediately noticed the body lying in the field. Investigation disclosed no mark other than a bruise on the forehead and it was presumed a fragment of rock had struck him.

Shrode was 55 years old and had spent all his life in the vicinity of McIntire.

He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Miss Berniece Shrode, who teaches at David; and two sisters, Mrs. Will Reep and Mrs. Emma Aspel, near McIntire.

It was believed the funeral would be conducted Thursday afternoon at McIntire Methodist Episcopal Church.

ITEM 2

Will Shrode Killed
While Blasting Rock

Will Shrode was killed instantly yesterday at about 6 p.m. while blasting rock on his farm about three and a half miles east of McIntire. A neighbor found him soon after he had heard the blast, and Mr. Shrode had apparently just died. It it assumed that a piece of the rock struck him in the forehead.

There were no bruises on any other part of his body.

Mr. Shrode was about 55 years of age, and had lived in the McIntire community all of his life. His parents' old home is just a short distance from his own home.

Surviving is his wife and one daughter, Miss Bernice, the latter of whom is a teacher in the David Schools, and his sisters, Mrs. Will Reep and Mrs. Ella Aspel.

Funeral arrangements are not complete, but it is probable that services will be held in the Methodist church tomorrow, and burial made at Riceville, beside other members of the family.
