Evelyn (Ahrens) Smolik

OSAGE, IOWA — Evelyn Smolik, 83, died Sunday, November 29, 1998, at the Faith Home, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p..m. Wednesday at United Church of Christ, Osage, with the Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Evelyn Smolik was born April 10, 1915, at Rosemont, Nebraska, the daughter of the Rev. Henry and Charlotte (Proett) Ahrens. She attended school at Lawrence, Neb., and graduated from Lawrence High School. She came to Osage with her parents in 1945.

Evelyn married Edward Smolik on October 28, 1947, at Eden Presbyterian Church. The couple made their home on a farm near Osage.

She has resided at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage the past two years.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Edward Smolik, Osage; a brother, Edward Ahrens and his wife, Lena, Osage; a twin brother, the Rev. Milton Ahrens and his wife, Zorka, Duluth, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Erma Ahrens, Osage; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, the Rev. Chester Ahrens; and a sister, Esther Ahrens; and an infant sister, Anna.
