Former Mitchell
County Man Died
Tuesday Morning

Joe Hallock, a well-known former Mitchell County man, passed away at Mason City Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, and is to be buried Friday, the funeral to be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the McCauley undertaking parlors in Mason City.

Mr. Hallock was 77 years old, and his death was not unexpected as he had been suffering from cancer.

The family lived in Osage many years ago, and Mr. Hallock clerked in the Stacy grocery and in other local stores. Then he worked for a time in the Smith Lumber Yard, and about twenty-five years ago went over to McIntire to manage the Smith yard there.

He was there for about fifteen years, then because of failing health he retired, and he and his wife went to Mason City to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Walter Gaffney.

His widow, who is an aunt to Mrs. Fred Bascombe, survives him. There are also two sons, Guy and Youngs, both of whom are living in Wisconsin.
