A. C. McDougall
Dropped Dead In
Home Thurs. Noon

"Archie" McDougall, widely known Osage resident, dropped dead shortly after noon last Thursday.

He had been in his usual good health, working every day. Thursday morning he cut wood, and expected to continue doing so that afternoon. He had just finished his dinner, and was sitting at the table. Mrs. McDougall started to clear the table, and she turned away, heard him fall from his chair to the floor. There were a few gasps, and he was gone.

OBITUARY

Archibald Calvin McDougall was born at Lake Villa, Wisconsin on September 30, 1859, and passed to his reward on January 15, 1931. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander McDougall, of Lake Villa, Wisconsin. He was next to the youngest child in a family of eleven children; all of these except two, a brother and a sister, preceded him in death. These two are David M. McDougall and Mrs. Charles Gauger, both of San Jose, California.

Mr. McDougall came to Iowa in 1878. He was married to Lottie A. Titus on November 21, 1882. Mr. and Mrs. McDougall settled on a farm about six miles north of Osage and resided there until nineteen years ago, when they moved to Osage.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McDougall, four of who survive. Those living are Mrs. Winifred W. Buttolph, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; Morgan A. McDougall, of Sidney, Australia; Mrs. Ethel M. Goodale, of Helena, Montana, now of Osage. The two children who preceded the father in death are Bessie, who died in 1907 and Glen in 1910.

Mr. and Mrs. McDougall united with the Methodist Church at Pleasant Valley in 1895, transferring to the Osage Methodist Church in 1911.

Besides the widow, a brother and a sister and four children surviving, there are twelve grandchildren left to mourn his loss.

Mr. McDougall loved the church and was faithful to the services and worship. He will be remembered for his genial, wholesome spirit and cordial manner. A great host of friends will miss his familiar smile and greeting. He had a fund of good humor. He saw the good in everybody and dwelt on that in his thought. He was an honest, upright citizen, and useful and generous neighbor and friend. The climax of his character was seen in his home life as husband and father. Here he was at his best.

He was apparently in hi usual good health until the moment of his summons to the beyond. He worked until noon on the day of his death, and was just starting to go to his afternoon task when he was suddenly promoted to his eternal home. The entire community will miss him and the sympathy of all reaches out to the family and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock from the family residence at 409 Ash Street, conducted by his pastor, the Reverend Sylvester E. Ellis of the Methodist Church. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery.
