STACYVILLE, IOWA — Clara Mayer, 97, of Stacyville, died Tuesday (April 7, 1998) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, at the Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider, officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Visitation Church Hall, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service.
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.
Clara Mayer was born on Dec. 15, 1900 on a farm near Meyer, Iowa, to Nick and Helen (Blake) Huemann.
She married Raymond Mayer on Feb. 19, 1924, in Meyer, Iowa. She lived on a farm near Stacyville until 1971, when they moved to town. Clara belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters, Christian Mothers, S.E. Country Circle and in town N.W. Circle. She loved to crochet and enjoyed her grandchildren.
She is survived by five sons, Romanus and his wife, Alice, of Charles City, Elmer and his wife, Esther, of Pekin, Ill., Clarence of Stacyville, Darrell and his wife, Lorene, of Lockport, N.Y., and Allan and his wife, Darlene, of Adams, Minn.; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bertha Mullenbach, of Osage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray in 1973; three brothers; five sisters; and one daughter-in-law, Dorothy.
