Mrs. Anna Becker, 85
Died in Mason City

Funeral services were held Saturday at Trinity Lutheran church in Osage for Mrs. Anna Becker, 85, who died Jan. 19 at a rest home in Mason City. The Rev. Edward M. Lang, church pastor, was in charge of services. Burial was in Calvary cemetery of St. John's Lutheran church south of Osage.

Anna Louise Bertha Lauterbach, the daughter of German immigrant parents, August and Johanna Handt Lauterbach, was born July 12, 1880, in Howard county, near Riceville. Shortly after her birth she moved with her family to a farm near St. Ansgar.

She was baptized Sept. 12, 1880, and was later comfirmed by Pastor J. Wiegner, April 7, 1895, in St. Ansgar. Here she spent her childhood days.

She was married to Gustav Hugo Becker of East Cedar township by the Rev. William Janzow. Shortly after, they moved to Thief River Falls, Minn., for a brief time, but returned to Iowa and settled on the farm of Ernest Becker, Gustav's father, in East Cedar township. They were active members of St. John's Lutheran church.

Her husband, Gustav, died Oct. 18, 1918, during a flu epidemic. The family remained on the farm.
In 1929 Mrs. Becker moved to Osage and pursued the nursing profession. In the late 1950's she retired. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran church and its Ladies Aid.

In 1963 she suffered a severe heart attack and stroke, which combined with a diabetic condition, restricted her activities. She was a resident of the rest home more than a year.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sons, Herman, Walter, Elmer and Oswald; one grandchild and three sisters and brothers.

Survivors included one son, Loyal of Madison, Wis., one daughter, Mrs. Erwin H. Baldner of St. Ansgar; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Schreck of Baytown, Tex., and Mrs. Bertha Wheeler of Middlelake Sask., Canada.
