LAVERA M. GRATIAS
OSAGE, IOWA - LaVera M. Gratias, 74, of Osage, died Friday (Jan. 28, 2000) of natural causes at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Eden Presbyterian Church, 3105 Glass Ave., rural Rudd, with the Rev. John Bates officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage.
LaVera M. Gratias was born September 17, 1925, at Marble Rock, the daughter of Volney and Gladys (Kinney) Nash. She attended Marble Rock schools and graduated from Marble Rock High School. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls. She taught school at Geneva, Marble Rock and Nora Springs.
She married Paul Gratias on Dec. 21, 1947, at Marble Rock. They made their home in the Nora Springs area. The couple moved to Osage in 1982.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Gratias, Osage; two sons, Raymond Gratias and wife, Cheryl, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Roger Gratias of Osage; three grandchildren; two sisters, Leila Lauterbach and husband, Peter, of Marble Rock and Bernice Nelson of Ohio; and one brother, Robert Nash of Marshalltown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mavis; two brothers and two sisters.
