Herbert C. Wagner 1904-1998

STACYVILLE, IOWA — Herbert C. Wagner, 93, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Visitation Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Church Hall, where a rosary will be said at 3 p.m., and a scripture service at 8 p.m. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.

Herbert was born on August 20, 1904, in Meyer, Mitchell County, Iowa, to Joseph and Katie Hemann Wagner. He farmed with his brother and mother prior to marriage. He married Rose Stephanie on Oct. 4, 1938, in St. Joe, Wis. They farmed in the Meyer and Stacyville area all their lives. Herbert loved horses, working with them on the farm. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Danie; one daughter, Cecelia; four brothers, Louie, Tony, Albert and Frank; and two sisters, Adella and Martha.

Herbert is survived by three sons, Robert and his wife, Grace, of Stacyville, John and his wife, Joyce, of Adams, Minn., and James and his wife, Linda, of Osage; one daughter, Mary Michels and her husband, Eugene, of Osage; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Wagner and his wife, Agnes, of Austin, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Sister Mary Rosaline Stephanie of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Angela Stephanie of Mt. Calvary, Wis.
