70, of Mona DiedFuneral services for a lifelong Mitchell county resident, Mrs. Bessie Duenow, 70, of Mona were held last Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle. The Rev. Merland Johnson, church pastor, was in charge. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.
Bessie G. Berg was born in Otranto township near Mona, July 1, 1894, the daughter of Mina and Gunder Berg. She attended the Mona elementary school and high school in Lyle, continuing her education at Cedar Valley seminary in Osage and State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls. She taught in the rural schools in Rock and Otranto townships for several years before her marriage. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.
Her marriage to Roy C. W. Duenow of Otranto took place Oct. 24, 1917. They lived in the Lyle and Mona community.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle and an active member of the Ladies AId.
Her husband Roy died Feb. 22, 1950.
Mrs. Duenow suffered a stroke Feb. 18. She died Feb. 22, 1965.
She is survived by four children Dorothy of Mason City; Dale of St. Ansgar; Mrs. Dale Bensend, Donna, of Otranto, and Dene, at home; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Rustad of Trempealeau, Wis., Mrs. Helga Larson; Mrs. Dora Carlson of Austin and one brother, Lloyd Berg of Lyle.
