Held Here Tuesday, May 12Funeral services for Rudolph H. Nitardy, 83, who died Saturday, May 9, in Tripoli, were held Tuesday, May 12 at the Schroeder Funeral Home here with the Rev. William Perkins, former pastor of St. Peter Lutheran church, Toeterville, officiating.
Rudolph Henry Nitardy was born July 3, 1897 in Meriden, Minn., one of four children of Otto C. and Alice (Toeter) Nitardy. He attended parochial school in Waverly and public school in St. Paul, Minn. He was confirmed in 1911. In his youth he worked on farms in the summertime and attended Wartburg College in Waverly for two years. In March of 1916 the family moved to Toeterville to operate the farm of his grandfather.
Mr. Nitardy farmed with his parents until March 1925 when a severe back ailment caused him to give up farming. The family then moved to Chicago, Ill. where he took up carpentry. He married Marie Lehmann June 18, 1927, and they established their home in Norwood Park, Illinois. Seven children were born to them.
In August 1930 they returned to the farm near St. Ansgar and he resided there until his death. He is survived by his seven children, Mrs. George (Alice) Bartz of Davenport; Robert of Lakewood, Colorado; Otto of Snohomish, Wash.; Mrs. Dean (Barbara) Rose of Marion; Mrs. Gene (Margaret) Buenger of Tripoli; Mrs. Bruce (Carolyn) Gerdts of St. Ansgar; Joseph of St. Ansgar; also 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one brother, Carl, of Northbrook, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marie, who died in 1968.
Burial was in St. Peter Lutheran cemetery, Toeterville, with Rev. Perkins in charge of the committal services.
