Mable Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Stehn, 1890-1981

Mable M. Stehn Funeral Held Saturday, August 8

Funeral services for Mrs. Mable M. Stehn, 91, of Carpenter, who died at the Lutheran Retirement home in Northwood August 6, were held August 8 at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, with the Rev. E. C. Franke and the Rev. Joe Matt officiating.

Mable Mary Elizabeth Stehn was born February 26, 1890 in Rose Creek, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Phoebe (Lembrick) Smith. She attended country schools in Rose Creek and Carpenter.

She married Adolph Stehn September 22, 1907 in Northwood with the Rev. Lee officiating. Five children were born to them. They resided in Pierre, S. D. and Danvers, Minn. They returned to the Carpenter area in 1916 and resided on a farm two miles west of Carpenter until they moved to Carpenter in November 1948.

Mrs. Stehn is survived by four children: Mrs. Alfred (Ethel) Tesch of Carpenter, Russel and Delmar of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Joe (Della) Matt of Austin, Minn.; also 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Esther Ferguson of Davison, Mich., and one brother, Clifford Smith of St. Catherine's, Ontario, Canada; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Arthur, in infancy in 1908; her parents, her husband, Arthur; one great granddaughter, Kay Loy Fullingim, one brother, Willis Smith; two sisters, Viola Hildreth and Irene Paulson.

Burial was in the Newburg Township cemetery east of Carpenter with Rev. Franke and Rev. Matt in charge of the committal services.
