Funeral services for Oscar M. Hofland, who died Thursday, March 8, 1962, were held Monday, March 12 at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don R. Hamilton officiating. Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
Oscar M. Hofland was born on a farm near Mona, Iowa, November 22, 1876, the son of Ole and Betsy Hofland. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran Church. He received his education in the old brown school north of Toeterville, after which he worked on farms in that community.
On August 21, 1901 he was united in marriage with Minnie T. Williams and a short time thereafter moved to the old Williams homestad. They continued to live there until 1915 when they moved to a farm near New Richmond, Wisconsin. In 1932 they moved back to St. Ansgar, purchased a home and Oscar did carpenter work in this area until about a year ago.
Oscar and Minnie were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding on August 21, 1951.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth of Austin, Minnesota; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Clifford of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and two sisters, Mrs. Orpha Kirkevold of Colfax, Wisconsin and Mrs. Ruth Sandland of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie and a son who died in infancy.
