Iver H. Norby, 1859-1929

Iver Halstenson Norby was born in Dane County, Wisconsin on February 2, 1859 to Halsten Iverson and Taran Olsen Norby. At the age of ten, he came with his parents to Mitchell County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and has always been as active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

On September 13, 1886, he entered into the Holy state of matrimony with Miss Gustava Hendrickson. Immediately after their marriage they located on their farm in Rock Grove Township, Floyd County, Iowa. He continued to live on this place until the time of his death.

In his wedlock, four children were born. Of his children the following survive: Adolph, who is at home, and Clara, who is a nurse at the Presbyterian hospital in Waterloo. His wife preceded him in death February 19, 1897. Gilman died in infancy and Henry Hjalmer died January 16, 1928.

He is survived by five brothers: Olaus, Lauritz, and Carl of this community, Henry of Hannaford, ND, and Edward of Parshall, North Dakota. Also three sisters survive: Mrs. Anton (Marie) Lundene and Mrs. N.J. (Caroline) Johnson of Osage and Mrs. Martin (Elizabeth) Klemesrud of Grand Forks, North Dakota.

The departed brother has been enjoying good health until taken sick June 26, 1929. During his illness, Clara has taken care of all his wants with kind hands. He died July 2, 1929. The cause of his death was hardening of the arteries.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre from the Rock Creek Lutheran church on July 5th at 11 a.m. and interment was made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.
