Taran (Olsen) Norby, 1837-1912
Mrs. Tharan Norby was born in Hedalen, Norway, October 21, 1837, the eldest daughter of Ole Olsen Juvebraaten and Anne Olsdatter Fonhuseie.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of her native land. She came to this country with her widowed mother, brother, and sister in the summer of 1857 and made her home near Black Earth, Dane County, Wisconsin.
The following year she was united in marriage to Halstein Iverson (Norby). They purchased a farm in that neighborhood where they lived eleven years. They came to Mitchell County in the summer of 1869 and purchased a half section of land in the Rock Creek settlement, eight miles southwest of Osage where she has lived ever since.
The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Norby has been blessed with twelve children, nine of which, six sons and three daughters survive her; Iver, Olaus, and Lauritz of Rock Creek, Carl living south of St. Ansgar, Henry of Cooperstown, North Dakota, Edward of McVille, North Dakota, the daughters, Mrs. Anton (Marie) Lundene and Mrs. N.J. (Thea) Johnson of Rock Creek and Mrs. Martin (Elizabeth) Klemesrud of McVille, North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her son Edward I in 1880 and two other children in infancy.
Mrs. Norby lived a pious and active life and brought her family up "In the Nurture and Admonition of the Lord."
Her husband died in the fall of 1896. She died April 16, 1912, at the home of her eldest daughter, Mrs. Anton Lundene, with whom she had made her home a few weeks of her last illness.
The funeral services were held April 19th at the Rock Creek Lutheran church of which she was always a faithful member. She was laid to rest in the cemetery near the church beside her husband and three children who had gone before.

#2:Taran (Tharan) Olsdatter Juvbraaten was born October 21, 1837 at Nordre Lindelien, Aadal, Buskerud, Norway to Ole Olsen Juvbraaten and Anne Olsdatter Fonnhuseie, the oldest of their five children.
She was baptized on January 28, 1838, 1812 at Norderhov church, Buskerud, Norway and also confirmed in Norway.
Taran emigrated in the summer of 1857 to Dane, Wisconsin with her mother and younger siblings.
She married Halstein Everson (Iverson, Nordbye, Norby) at Dane, Wisconsin on July 4,1858.
The couple had 12 children:

In 1869, the family moved to Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Taran Norby died April 16, 1912 at rural Floyd, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Taran's married surname was Everson until 1904, then Iverson to 1910. In 1911, changed to Nordbye which was shortened to Norby.
