Charles Schwab [1945-2001]
Memorial services were held, Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, for Charles "Chuck" Schwab, age 56, of 604 S. Johnson St., Charles City. Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiated with interment following in the Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Fullerton Funeral Home, Charles City, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Those wishing to send expressions of sympathy may direct memorials to Charles Schwab Fund.
He died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.
Charles was born on January 29, 1945 the son of Andrew and Leona (Mandler) Schwab in Osage, Iowa. Chuck later graduated from Osage High School with the class of 1963. On Aug. 29, 1986 Chuck was united in marriage to Betty Lence Mead at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. The couple has resided in Charles City ever since.
Chuck was currently employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation as a highway maintenance supervisor. He had the Mason City and Clear Lake areas as his work zone. He had worked for the state for 34 years. Chuck loved to be outdoors whether working in the yard, gardening, fishing, hunting, golfing, playing ball or any number of sporting activities.
Most of all, Charles was proud to be a grandpa and cherished his time spent with his grandchildren.
Charles attended both the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage and Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage.
Preceding him in death were his father, Andrew Schwab and one sister, Shirley DeVore.
Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife, Betty; three sons, Kim Schwab of Downs, Illinois, Gordon Mead of Charles City, Daniel and wife Joyce Mead of Greene; three daughters, Kelly Scheer of Osage, Angie Tonilli of Charles City and Angie and her husband Todd Atwell of Russell, Iowa; his mother, Leona (Schwab) Rogers of Osage; two brothers, Andrew Schwab of New Hampton and Tom and wife Marcia of Nora Springs; 14 grandchildren, Kasey, Arthur, Alex, Jesse, Ashley, Luke, Joshua, Tyler, Jamie, Brady, Faith, Taylor, Turner and Sawyer.
