AGED RESIDENT STROKE VICTIM
FUNERAL SERVICES OF MRS. WHITEMAN TO BE HELD FRIDAYNorthwood---Mrs. Mary Whiteman, 82, died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Norval Hendrickson, where she resided. She suffered a stroke on January 26 from which she never recovered.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Conner funeral home in Northwood and at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist church in St. Ansgar. The Rev. R. S. Phillips of the Northwood Methodist church will be in charge of the rites assisted at St. Ansgar by the Rev. W. F. Belling of the Methodist church of that city. Burial will be at St. Ansgar.
She was married January 30, 1884 to Samuel Whiteman of St. Ansgar. The Rev. Mr. Oliver, inventer of the Oliver typewriter, officiated at their marriage. Mr. Whiteman preceded her in death September 22, 1934.
They established their first home on a farm near St. Ansgar, later occupying a farm in the Meltonville-Otranto vicinity. In 1900 they moved to St. Ansgar where Mr. Whiteman was engaged in milling with Rudolph Helfritz for several years, later operating a restaurant. He then entered the employ of the St. Ansgar Lumber and Grain company where he remained for 21 years.
Mrs. Whiteman is survived by two children, C. B. Whiteman of Clinton, and Mrs. Maybelle Hendrickson of Northwood. One child, Blanche, died at the age of 18 months. A Sister, Mrs. B. Peach resides at Evansville, Wis. Since the fall of 1937 she has lived with her daughter in Northwood.
