Maureece M. Marr

RICEVILLE - Maureece Marr, age 89, died Friday (April 30, 2010) at the Riceville Family Care and Therapy Center.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville with burial in Calvary Cemetery at Riceville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Conway Funeral Home in Riceville with a rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil service at 6 p.m.

Maureece M. Marr was born March 21, 1921 ,in Howard County, west of Elma, the daughter of Merle and Nellie (Moudy) McDaniel. She attended the rural school and graduated from eighth grade in 1935. In May 1977 Maureece received her GED from North Iowa Community College.

On June 22, 1937, Maureece was united in marriage to Leslie J. Marr at Riceville. Leslie and Maureece farmed southeast of Riceville until 1969 when they moved to their new home in Saratoga. After Leslie's death, she moved into Riceville. Maureece was a farm partner, homemaker and drove school bus for the Riceville Community School from 1968 to 1988.

Maureece is survived by her children: Jerry (Susan) Marr of Spring Valley, Minnesota, Jim (Sue) Marr of Riceville, and Emil (Rita) Marr of New Hampton; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, on May 30, 1995; one brother, Leonard McDaniel; and one sister, Irene Lubbert.
