Funeral in Osage Held Tuesday for Mrs. Cyril Cornwell
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage for Mrs. Cyril Cornwell, 37, of Osage, who died at Mitchell County Memorial hospital Saturday night.
Mrs. Cornwell had had a heart condition since suffering an attack of rheumatic fever at the age of 13. She contracted flu and pneumonia last week and was taken to the hospital shortly before she died.
The Rev. Hugh M. Wright, pastor of the Baptist church in Osage, was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.
Marian Ruth Tubbs was born on a farm near Mitchell, Iowa, on August 28, 1920, the daughter or Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tubbs. She had lived in Osage since infancy. She attended the Osage schools, graduating from high school here. Her marriage to Cyril Cornwell took place September 3, 1938. She had been a member of the Baptist church since girlhood, had been a member of the choir of that church, and had been active in her Sunday school class and the Ann Judson Circle.
Preceding her in death were her father and three children.
Surviving her are her husband, Cyril, her mother, Mrs. Bessie Tubbs of Osage, and five children: Richard, Elizabeth, Mary Kay, Allen and Carol, all at home; one brother, Rolland Tubbs of Osage, and five sisters: Grace Tubbs of Osage; Mrs. James Appleton, Mrs. William Gardner and Mrs. John Tesar of Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. Melvin Warner of Davenport.
