Death Takes Aged Resident of Osage

Rites for Mary McFarland, 91,
Will Be Monday.

OSAGE, IOWA - Mrs. Mary Doole McFarland, 91, died Friday at her home here.

She was born Mar. 14, 1854, in Massachusetts, the daughter of Francis and Martha Doole. She was a member of a family of six, all of whom have preceded her in death.

She moved west with her family about 80 years ago, residing the remainder of her life in Mitchell and Floyd counties.

The family settled near Floyd, where Mrs. McFarland received her elementary and secondary education. She was a teacher for a short time.

She was married to Robert McFarland, who preceded her in death in 1920. The couple established their first home in Floyd. Mrs. McFarland came to Osage in 1901.

She was a member of the Congregational Church for 45 years.

Surviving are one son, Francis W. McFarland, Long Beach, California, one granddaughter and two great grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. P. G. Behrns of Orchard, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Champion funeral home here, with burial in Osage cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis McFarland arrived last Tuesday from Long Beach and will remain here until after the services.
