Funeral Held Here Friday, May 28
Funeral services for Miss Leona F. Hansen, 73, who died May 25 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held May 28 at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home here with the Rev. Gaylord Grant of Mona officiating.
Leona Faith Hansen was born July 7, 1908 in St. Ansgar township, Mitchell County, the daughter of Jeppe Peter and Anna Marie (Nelson) Hansen. When Miss Hansen was 12 the family moved from the rural Spring Valley School district to Otranto. She attended Otranto Public school and graduated in 1927 with honors. Throughout high school Miss Hansen played an active part in music and sports. She was a member of the Otranto Community church, and also the Ladies Aid of the church.
Miss Hansen was baptized in 1971 at the Good Samaritan Center here where she has been a resident the past several years. She was an active member of the St. Ansgar Garden club, and took part in gardening and rose culture in particular.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen, and a brother, Christian, She is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Hansen of Stacyville; a nephew, Jeff of St. Ansgar; one great niece and one great nephew.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Grant in charge of committal services.
