Thelma 'Lenore' (Halvorson) Grell, 1909-1991

MASON CITY, IOWA -- Thelma "Lenore" Grell, 81, formerly of 1122 E. State St., died Tuesday (Nov. 26, 1991) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Ernest Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Friends may call from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 209 Second St. N.E.

Memorial Contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association, Heart of Iowa Chapter, P.O. Box 1523, Welch Ave. Station, Ames, Iowa 50010.

Mrs. Grell was born on December 19, 1909, in St. Ansgar, the daughter of George A. and Anna Helena (Tollefson) Halvorson.

She graduated from St. Ansgar High School, St. Ansgar, Iowa. She then attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She served as Deputy County Treasurer for Cerro Gordo County from 1950 until her retirement in 1974.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three sons, James A. Grell and wife, Ruth, Flossmoor, Illinois, Donald L. Grell and wife, Cheri, Burlington, N.C., and Robert A. Grell and wife, Roberta, Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ruth; and two brothers, Alfred and Avery.
