Dreher, Emma Mueller (Miller) January 24, 1912
Mrs. Emma (Miller) Dreher, wife of Reinhold Dreher, of Carpenter, Iowa, died January 24, 1912 at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 7 days.
Emma was born in the city of Hamburg, Germany May 17, 1840. There she grew to womanhood and on the 18th of October 1859, more than fifty three years ago, she was united in marriage to Reinhold Dreher, who survives her. Four years later they decided to seek their fortune in the new world, and so they came to the city of New York which continued to be their home for six years.
They came west and settled in Mitchell County, Iowa, in 1869 and that ever after remained their home, the larger part of the time residing on their farm southwest of St. Ansgar. However a few years ago they retired from their farm and went to live in Carpenter. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dreher, six sons and six daughters; all are living with the exception of Emma, who died about 25 years ago at the age of 12 years.
Those who are living are Mrs. Augusta Weber and R.W. Dreher of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Minnie Connors of Nora Springs, Iowa, Mrs. Amanda Braun of Chicago, Illinois, F. R. Dreher, St. Ansgar, Iowa, C.M. Dreher of Randall, Minnesota, Mrs. Maggie Feldt on farm, Mitchell County, Iowa, Mrs. Lena Grap of St. Paul, Minnesota, Will G. Dreher, Mitchell County, Iowa, Otto Dreher, Lincoln, Minnesota, and Edward Dreher, Dike, Iowa. All of whom were present at the funeral. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Landeck of Grafton, and her remains were laid to rest in the Rock Creek cemetery.
