Martin Dowd

The friends of Martin Dowd in this vicinity were shocked to learn of his sudden death from heart failure last Monday, at his home near Owattona Minn.

The deceased was born and raised in Douglas Township, this county, where he lived until about a year ago, when he went to Minnesota. He was 33 years of age and last November was married to Miss Deb Morrisy of New Haven, and was here only last Friday on a visit to relatives, being accompanied home by his mother who was with him at the time of his death.

The funeral was held at Sacred Heart Church yesterday, conducted by Rev. Father Martin, after which the body was taken to New Haven for burial in the Catholic cemetery at that place, where a father and two sisters are also buried.

The deceased was well and favorably known by a large circle of friends in this county. The sudden affliction that has befallen the wife of only a few short months is deeply sorrowful and the sympathy of her old home friends is extended at this trying time.

Martin had eaten a hearty supper about 7 o'clock Monday evening, after which he complained of sharp pains in the region of his heart and died in less than 2 hours.
