OBITUARY, Page

Asenath Page was born near Bradford, Vermont, Sept. 26, 1828, and died at her home near Osage Jan. 5, 1914. She lived in Vermont until she was 19 years of age when she was united in marriage to Chas. Cummings. One year later they came to Wisconsin, where they made their home for 16 years, going then to Redwing Minn., they lived at this place for two years and moved to Jones Co., Iowa and then to Mitchell Co., in 1869, where Mrs. Cummings has since made her home.

Mr. Cummings preceded her to the grave March 26, 1897. They lived together 49 years. To this union were born 11 children, which are left to mourn the loss of the loved one. There were also 42 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Cummings came from the old family of Pages of Boston, Mass. Her grandfather served through the Revoluntionary war with George Washington and was one of the parties who helped throw the tea overboard in the famous Boston Tea party. Her father also served in the war of 1812.

In 1858 she joined the Baptist church of Stoughton, Wisc., and remained a devoted memver to this faith until the time of her death. She was a devoted Bible student and an earnest Christian woman. She manifested her christian life in her daily life work by the ministering of loving hands and works.

Funeral was held from the home of her son Will Cummings, where she made her home, and burial was at the Osage Cemetery. L.O. Thompson pastor of the Methodist church at Mitchell conducted the service.
