Claude E. Black, 1924-2003
Services for Claude E. Black, 78, of Ravenwood Health Care Center, were held Tuesday, June 3, at Queen of Peace Parish St. John Worship Center with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Flag folding will be conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and the VFW 1623. Claude died Friday afternoon at the center. Memorials may be directed to the family
He was born on October 23, 1924, in Little Cedar, Mitchell county, Iowa, the son Elmer J. and Bertha Myrtle Black. He married Mildred A. Clark on June 20, 1944 in Osage. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1996.
Claude served in the Army during World War II. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for construction companies retiring in 1963.
He is survived by one son, Steven (Kim) Black of Waterloo, two Daughters; Carol (Chuck) Allison of Marshalltown, Barbara (Scott) Wienands of Waterloo, one Brother: George Black of Mason City, one Sister: Kathryn Lovig of Mitchell, Iowa, six Grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
