Kathleen "Kay" Hansen 1936-1996

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Kathleen "Kay" Hansen, 60, of St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (April 24, 1996) at the Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. today at the church. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen Hansen was born February 28, 1936, in Rochester, Minnesota.

Survivors include her husband, Axel "Skip" Hansen Jr. of St. Ansgar; one daughter, Laurie Hansen of Stillwater, Minnesota; two sons, Gary of Margat, Florida, and Jeffrey of Winterset; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 26, 1996 at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, for Kathleen Margaret Quinn Hansen, 60, of St. Ansgar. Reverend Robert Porisch officiated and burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. She died April 24, 1996 at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar, where she had been a resident since November of 1989.

Kathleen Margaret (Quinn) Hansen was born February 28, 1936 in Rochester, Minnesota, to Eugene and Gertrude Lively Quinn. On April 4, 1936, she was baptized into the Christian faith at Immaculate Conception Church in Riceville. Her baptismal sponsors were Vincent and Marcella Quinn. She was confirmed in her baptismal faith at Immaculate Conception Church on November 5, 1947. Kay was received as a member of the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, by Affirmation of Baptism on July 23, 1995. Previous to her joining the First Lutheran Church, she had been active in the women's organization of the church.

Kay attended school in Howard County graduating from McIntire High School. She was united in marriage to Axel Hansen, Jr. on December 1, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Church in Riceville. They were the parents of three children, Jeffrey, Gary and Laurie.

She served many years as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts organizations, serving as a Brownie Troop Leader. She loved reading, travel and fishing trips. She was also a member of the St. Ansgar High School Music Mothers organizations.

At age 40, Kay was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and fought a long battle with MS. She was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar, since November of 1989.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Axel "Skip" Hansen, Jr. of St. Ansgar; two sons, Gary Hansen of Margate, Florida and Jeffrey and his wife, Sue of Winterset, Iowa; one daughter, Laurie Hansen of Stillwater, Minnesota; grandchildren, Greg and Kirk Hansen, Nicole and Taylor Hansen; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald (Chuck) and Judy Hansen; sister-in-law, Judy Wilson; and nieces and nephews.
