Feldt, Sr., William Frederick -- August 3, 1926

St. Ansgar Enterprise August 1926 William F. Feldt was born on the 2nd day of November 1846 at Grohsschlatikow, Province Pommerania, Germany, as the second of five children of Michael Feldt and Caroline nee Brunk. Soon after his birth he was made a child of God by Holy Baptism, and after attaining the proper age was instructed in Holy Writ and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in 1860. In 1866 he entered into Holy Wedlock with Miss Julia Schmidt; unto this union six children were born, three of whom preceded their father in death.

In 1872, Mr. Feldt emigrated to America, settling at first in the village of Mitchellville, Polk County, Iowa, and three years later on a farm in the Rock Creek neighborhood. A great affliction befell the deceased in 1902 when his faithful companion was taken from him by death.

After living in bereavement for four years he again entered the estate of marriage. The wife of his choice this time was Mrs. Frederika Kohn. She proved to be a worthy and faithful helpmate unto him in old age.

The deceased enjoyed unusual good health until the day previous to his death when a stroke of apoplexy very suddenly brought him upon his sick bed which on Tuesday, August the 3rd proved to be his death bed.

His age was 79 years, 9 months, and 1 day. Those left to mourn his death are the following: The sorrowing widow; a son, Karl; two daughters, Mrs. Frederika Schulz and Mrs. Wilhelmine Rachut; 25 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Ferdinand and Albert.

Funeral services were conducted at the St. John Lutheran Church of Rock Creek Thursday afternoon, August 5 and interment made in St. John Lutheran cemetery.

Present at the funeral from away were Mrs. Frederika Schulz of Fergus Falls, Minn; Lawrence Feldt of Waterloo, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Benford Ellingson of Rose Creek, Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kohn and children, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kohn, Theodore Kohn, Mr. and Mrs. August Kohn, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kohn and children, Mrs. Alvina Thorson, and Mrs. Laura Thorson all of Spring Vally, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hellingson of Ostrander, Minnesota.
