John Lee Moss

OSAGE, IOWA - John Lee Moss, 74, of Osage, (formerly of Riceville) passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage, with Pastor Bruce Kaultwasser officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the Lindstrom Funeral Home, 401 E. Main St. in Riceville and one hour before service time at the church.

John was born July 23, 1935, in Riceville to Glenn and Masie Moss. He graduated from Riceville High School in 1954. He married Catherine (Kate) Conger on October 17, 1954. To this union three children were born: Sherrie, Lynette, and Alan.

John worked at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company in Charles City, but spent the majority of his life farming the Moss Family Farm. He enjoyed his Thursday outing with his golf buddies, visiting and teasing the grandkids. He loved collecting toy tractors and going to auctions.

John met Phyllis Rolland through friends and was united in marriage to Phyllis on September 23, 1995, in Osage. They lived on the family farm until moving to their home in Osage.

John is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Osage; two daughters: Sherrie (Howard) Baker, of Oelwein, and Lynette (Randy) Kephart, of Riceville; one son: Alan Moss, of Dallas, Texas; stepchildren: Joni Meek and special friend, Dennis Johnson, of Yellville, Alaska, Jim Rolland of Osage, and Jennifer (Keith) Winkels, of Meyer; six grandchildren, 13 stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; and one brother: William (Beverly) Moss, of Floyd; one sister-in-law: Ardis Moss, of Riceville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kate on August 17, 1991; his parents, and brother, Richard.
