Mrs. Marthea Golberg was born in Nordre Lands Parish, Thorpen, Norway on the 15th of March, 1848. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church indicated above. Her parents emigrated to America in 1881 and she came with them to St. Ansgar where she made her home during almost the entire remainder of her life.
Mrs. Golberg was in very poor health for almost a year. As her condition became more and more serious she finally decided to leave St. Ansgar and make her home with her son, Mr. John Johnson at New Auburn, Wis. She went there about three weeks ago.
Though all her friends knew that she was not likely to recover, still the news of her sudden death on November 25th, came as a shock to them all. The immediate cause of her death was apoplexy.
She leaves a son, three brothers and one sister.
The funeral took place at the U.N.L. church, Rev. M.E. Waldeland officiating, Wednesday afternoon and her remains were laid to rest in the U.N.L. cemetery north of St. Ansgar.
