Funeral services for George T. Gilbertson, 85, were held Monday, March 8, 1965 at the Schroeder and Houg Funeral Home in St. Ansgar. He passed away Friday, March 5, 1965 at 11:35 a.m. in a Bismarck, N.D. hospital where he had been admitted the previous day.

George T. Gilbertson, the son of Gilbert J. and Ragnild Haugrud Gilbertson was born August 25, 1879 at the Gilbertson Homestead south of St. Ansgar. He was the grandson and last member of the pioneer Jens Gilbertson family who came here from Clinton, Rock County, Wisconsin in 1861, to the farm site which has now been owned by the Gilbertson family for 104 years.

He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar by the Rev. Johann Olsen. He attended the Olin rural school and later the Osage Seminary.

He operated the family farm in partnership with his brother, Lewis after the retirement of their father, Gilbert J. Gilbertson. After the death of his sister, Nellie in 1955, he went to Bismarck, N.D. to make his home with his niece, Mrs. Carl Fryhling. Due to failing health, he entered St. Vincent's Nursing Home about one year ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his four sisters; Louise, (Mrs. M.O. Lebacken), Mina, (Mrs. Nels Larson), Anne and Nellie; and his two brothers, James and Lewis.

Survivors include his niece, Alice (Mrs. Carl Tryhling); and two nephews, Maurice Lebacken of Longview, Wash; and Keith Lebacken of Orthelio, Wash.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with the Rev. Donald Comnick officiating at the committal service.
