Dean W. Mauser

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 17, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church in Osage for Dean W. Mauser, age 78, of Osage, Iowa. Rev. Karen Nichols Dungan officiated and burial was in the Osage Cemetery. Dean died Monday, November 12, 2001 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dean was born November 25, 1922 in Douglas Township in Mitchell County, Iowa the son of Gotlieb and Elizabeth (Fell) Mauser. He graduated from Osage Community High School in 1942. He farmed the family farm near New Haven, Iowa. Dean was united in marriage to Connie Fink on March 18, 1945 at the Methodist Parsonage in Osage. They made their home on a farm near New Haven. In 1974 they moved to the River Road near Osage.

Dean was employed by Federal Crop Insurance Corp. as a Loss Adjustment supervisor. In 1981 he established Mauser Insurance Company in Osage with his wife, Connie and his son, Richard. He became semi-retired in 1989. He and his wife, Connie enjoyed their winters in Port Aransas, Texas. where he enjoyed fishing and being by the ocean.

Dean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage, Lions Club, and a member of AA for 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Lois Mauser; three brothers, Lawrence Mauser, Robert Mauser and Glen Mauser.

Those that survive him include his wife, Connie of Osage; three daughters, Cyndy Norman and her husband, Bill of Lamoni, Iowa and their two sons, Kit Norman and his wife, Stacey and their two children, Clover and Cedar of Lakewood, DO and Nate Norman of Seattle, Washington; Vicki Johnston and her husband, David of Danville, Virginia and their two sons, Sam Johnston of San Diego, California and Josh Johnston of Washington, D.C.; Christi Arneson and her husband, Peter of Port Aransas, Texas and their children, Adam Arneson of Prescott, Arizona and Erin Arneson of St. Cloud, Minnesota; three sons, Richard Mauser and his wife Renee of Osage and their children, Derek Mauser of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and Amber Mauser of Chicago, Illinois; Dan Mauser of Metter, Georgia and David Mauser and his wife, Julie of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and their three sons, Jeff Mauser, Brad Mauser and Greg Mauser of Eden Prairie; two sisters, Edna Bailey of Osage and Helen Halvorson and her husband, Ben of Osage; several nieces and nephews.
