WILLIAM AHRENS DIES AT OSAGE -- RITES THURSDAY

OSAGE, IOWA - William Ahrens, 92, died Tuesday at his home here. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church here. The Rev. Edward Lang officiated and burial was in Calvary Cemetery, south of Osage.

Born November 25, 1869 in Germany, he was the son of Dietrich and Marie Voss Ahrens. He came to a farm near Nora Springs when he was 17 and was joined by his parents and four brothers a year later. He was married to Margaret Dieterich in April 1899. They farmed near Mitchell until retiring to Osage in 1953.

Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Miss Cordelia Ahrens, St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Roger (Lucille) Wilson, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Ezra (Marie) Kruckenberg Lowden, Iowa; Mrs. Darrell (Verna) Maxson, Spirit Lake; two sons, William Jr. and Louis, both of Osage; six grandchildren, eight grat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sons, two daughters, and three grandchildren.
