to Be Held in Osage
Osage: Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at her home in charge of the Rev. Stiles Lessly of the Osage Congregational church for Mrs. Oscar Jacobs, 82, who died at her home here at 10:30 Tuesday morning. Mrs. Jacobs has been in failing health since Thanksgiving.
Hannah Tupper, one of the six children of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Tupper, was born in Nova Scotia September 18, 1853, and came to Mitchell county with her parents at the age of six and they settled on a farm in East Lincoln. Before her marriage Feb. 13, 1878, to Oscar Jacobs, she taught a rural school. Mr. and Mrs Jacobs moved to a farm near Bucknam Crossing where they lived 25 years before moving to Osage.

OSAGE, IOWA - Farmers here have been working early in the morning and late at night but not during the heat of the day because neither the horses nor men can stand the intense heat. Three shipments of army cots have been sold here this season, mostly to people who are sleeping in their backyards.

Girl and Lived Long and
Useful Life Here
Mrs. Hannah Jacobs passed away at her home in the Third ward Tuesday forenoon at about 10:30 o'clock, after a long illness that commenced last November. While she seemed to rally at times, her strength did not return, and for the past several weeks she has failed steadily.
Hannah Tupper Jacobs was one of the dearly beloved pioneer mothers of Osage. She was the last of six children of E. W. and Janet Tupper, and was born in Nova Scotia September 18, 1853. When a child of about six, she came to Mitchell County with the family, and it is here that she has lived her long and useful life.
She attended the Cedar Valley Seminary in 1874, then taught in the schools of Rock and East Lincoln Townships. Afterward she taught in the Osage public school.
She was married to Oscar S. Jacobs on February 13, 1878, and four children were born to them: Fred who died February 12, 1926; a son who passed away in infancy; Sam of Wannamaker, South Dakota; and Elizabeth of Osage. These two, with five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren are left to mourn her passing. The grandchildren are: Mrs. Blanche Smith, Raymond, South Dakota; Mrs. Beth Slee, El Centro, California; Mrs. Hazel Hofsteen, Madison, Wisconsin; Mrs. Helen Baker, Osage; Maude Jacobs Danforth, Raymond, South Dakota.
Mr. and Mrs. Jaobs lived on a farm northeast of Osage for twenty-five years and then moved to Osage, where she lived until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died January 28, 1919. She was of a home loving and hospitable disposition, always glad to welcome her friends.
She united with the Congregational Church at the age of 18 and has ever been on of the most faithful and active members. At the 75th anniversary of the church Mrs. Jacobs was the oldest living member. The church and its various organizations meant much to her. She worked in the Missionary and Ladies' Aid Societies, always giving of her best.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Thursday morning at 10 o'clock by her pastor, Reverend Stiles Lessly.
