Christopher Lundene, 1848-1931
Christopher Lundene was born at Bagn, Valdres, Norway on June 21, 1848 to Anders Knutsen and Olia Knutsdatter Lundene. At the age of two, he came with his parents to America and located at Springdale, Wisconsin. Here his father died in an accident on September 27, 1867.
In 1873 he came with his mother, sisters, and brothers to Floyd County, where he bought a piece of land and cared for his mother until her death in 1908. Selling his land to his brother Anton, he owned land at Downing, Wisconsin for three years, and later bought land near Otranto, Iowa.
He made his home for two years with his sister, Mrs. Carrie Solomon of St. Ansgar. After her death he moved to the home of his nephew, Amos Lundene, where he remained until his death.
Enjoying good health until about two years ago, he became seriously ill on March 9th. He died March 20th, having reached the ripe age of 83 years, 8 months and 29 days.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.C. Myhre at the Rock Creek Lutheran church and interment was in the Rock Creek cemetery.
