Anton A. Lundene was born at Springdale, Dane County, WI, on May 14, 1854 to Anders Knutson Lundene and Olia Knutsdatter Thoen. In 1873 he came with his mother, sisters, and younger brothers to Floyd County, Iowa.
On March 29, 1886 he married Miss Anne Marie Norby of this community. Immediately after their marriage they located on their farm in Floyd County where they continued to live until eleven years ago, when they retired and located to Osage.
To this union the following children were born: Mrs. Erwin (Mabel) Nelson, Mrs. Lloyd (Cora) Larson, and Hans Lundene, all of Floyd County; Mrs. Elmer (Alice) Larson, Mrs. Edwin (Olga) Horgen, and Amos Lundene, all of Mitchell County and Mrs. Elza (Ida) Steelman of Minneapolis.
Besides his wife and children, the following near relatives survive: his brothers, Christopher of St. Ansgar and Gabriel of Canada, and two sisters Mrs. Carrie Solomon of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Ingeborg Jeglum of Fairdale, ND, and also twenty-two grandchildren.
Since coming to this community, Mr. Lundene has always been an interested and active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran church. He has been enjoying good health until about four years ago. During these last years there has been a noticeable failing in his strength, but not until February 20th, when he suffered a second heart attack, did his condition become alarming. In spite of medical aid and the kind care of his wife and children his life terminated, March 15th, 1929. The cause of his death was heart disease.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at Rock Creek Lutheran church, March 18th at 1:30 p.m. and burial was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.
