FUNERAL HELD FOR DARLENE KUBLEY 17, ACCIDENT VICTIM

(Jan. 6, 1966)

Funeral services were held last Thursday for a car accident victim, Darlene Kubley, 17, of near Riceville, who died near Grand Meadow, Minn., last Tuesday afternoon. Miss Kubley and her older sister, Patricia, were involved in the one-car mishap on a gravel road 13 miles north of LeRoy.

Her sister still is confined to a Rochester hospital and her condition is now improved, according to the report. She suffered head injuries, a broken arm and bruises.

The Rev. Walter Schroeder, pastor, was in charge of the services at St. Peter's Lutheran church, Riceville. Burial was in the Wayne cemetery at McIntire.

Darlene Kay Kubley was born July 3, 1948, near Goldfield, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Floyd Kubley. She was baptized Aug. 22, 1948, and at St. Peter's Lutheran church in Riceville, May 27, 1962, she was confirmed.

Miss Kubley was a member of the Riceville student council, on the annual staff, was in chorus and band. She was selected FFA sweetheart in her sophomore year, and last fall was chosen Homecoming Queen of Riceville high school.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Kubley of near Riceville, her sisters, Patricia Nancy, Vicky and Janet, and one brother, Allen, all at home, and by two grandmothers, Mrs. Emma Kubley and Mrs. Leah Hammer of Eagle Grove.
