Rites for Matt Wagner, Victim of Pneumonia, to be Held Wednesday

Charles City, Jan. 21: Funeral services for Matt Wagner, 75, will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock in the Catholic church with the Rev. W. J. Convery officiating and burial will be in the New Haven cemetery. Mr. Wagner died Monday noon from pneumonia.

He was born March 28, 1860 at McHenry, Illinois, and came to Mitchell county when he was 12 years old in a covered wagon. On September 10, 1883 he was married to Margaret Blonigan at New Haven. They moved to Charles City 25 years ago.

Mr. Wagner is survived by his wife, six sons, one daughter, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His children are: John, New Haven; Steven, Riceville; Frank D., Hopkins, Minn.; Joseph P, Greene; Albert E, Van Nys, Cal.; Phillip E., New Hampton, and Mrs. Sidney Root, Charles City.

He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Albert Verchow and Mrs. Maria Dostart, Charles City; Mrs. Bartles Schweiger, New Haven; Christine Blonigan, Green Bay, Wisconsin; Steven, Chicago and Peter, Osage.

FROM PNEUMONIA;
ILL BUT SHORT TIME

Matt Wagner, a well-known former New Haven man, passed away at his home at Charles City from pneumonia, after but a brief illness.

Mr. Wagner lived on a farm near New Haven for 34 years; then twenty-five years ago retired from active life. Following is an obituary from the Charles City Press:

Matt Wagner, age 76, passed away at his home from pneumonia.

Mr. Wagner was born at McHenry, Illinois, March 28, 1860. He came to Mitchell county, Iowa, with his parents when he was 12 years old, in a covered wagon.

On September 10, 1883, he married Margaret Blonigan at New Haven, Iowa. They spent their early life farming. To this union were bron six sons and a daughter. Twenty-five years ago they moved to Charles City, where they have since resided.

Deceased is survived by his widow, eleven grandchildren, and the following children: John, of New Haven; Steven, Riceville; Frank D., Hopkins, Minnesota; Joseph P., Greene; Albert E., Van Nuys, Calif.; Philip E., New Hampton; and Mrs. Sidney Root, Charles City.
