GRAFTON, IOWA -- Richard Lloyd Navratil, 67, of Grafton, died Friday (Jan. 26, 1996) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, with the Rev. Gregory Bjornstad officiating. Following the services, lunch will be served in the fellowship hall at the church. Graveside committal services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Conner Colonial Chapel, 99 11th St. S., Northwood, and one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church.

Richard Lloyd Navratil was born on Nov. 13, 1928, in Plymouth, a son of Fred James and Helen Pauline (Fiala) Navratil. He received his education in the Grafton school system, graduating from Grafton High School in 1945. He also attended and graduated from Mason City Junior College and the Reisch World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City.

After completing his education, he worked on the family farm with his father and sons in the Grafton area and also was an auctioneer with Bob Sherrard of St. Ansgar and Dennis Johnson of Carpenter for several years until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement, he worked part time for the Cole Brothers Farms in the Grafton area.

He was united in marriage to Ilene Rose Kirchgatter on August 19, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

He enjoyed auctioneering, traveling, fishing, gardening, cooking and visiting with his family and many friends. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton.

Survivors include his mother, Helen P. Martin of the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood; three sons, Jerry Navratil of Charles City; Randy Navratil and his wife, Mary, of Story City, and Rory "R.T." Navratil and his girlfriend, Donna, of Grafton; one daughter, Joleen Bakken and her husband, Erik, of Davenport; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Anne Marreel and her husband, Enri, of Chandler, Ariz., and Rose Marie Kruger, of Northwood; a special friend, Marilyn Korte of Mason City; four nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.
