Former New Haven Man Dies; Rites Saturday

OSAGE, IOWA - Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m., at St. Peters church, New Haven, for Matthew P. Meyer, 77, whose remains were brought to New Haven Wednesday evening from Wolverton, Minn. In charge of the service will be the Rev. John Mayer, with burial in St. Peters cemetery.

Matthew Meyer, son of Peter and Barbara Wagner Meyer, was born December 25, 1867 in Illinois. The family came to New Haven, when he was a small lad. He worked in New Haven, then went to Chicago where he worked as a blacksmith, then in a zinc factory and finally the railroad, which profession he followed until he retired a year ago.

Surviving are a son, Emil, in service somewhere in the Pacific, a daughter, Hazel Meyer Hansen, Wolverton, Minn.; five brothers, John New Haven; Stephen, Charles City, and Peter, William, and Joe, New Haven, and four sisters, Mary Rivers, New Haven; Mrs. Howard Morse, Charles City; Mrs. Hugh Murray, Nora Springs, and Mrs. Frank Engels of California.
