Axel Jorgenson
The remains of Axel Jorgenson, 75, who died at Decorah, Iowa, were brought here Monday for funeral services and burial. The service was held at the Rock Creek Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. C. Blaine Gunderson, and burial was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.
Axel Jorgenson was born in Norway on June 27, 1867. He came to this country at the age of 13 years, landing in New York. He became a citizen of the United States on October 1, 1900. He spent the greater part of his life in and near Osage. Until some twenty years ago, he farmed west of Osage. Then he, together with a sister, Carrie, moved into Osage where they have spent the last years until about three weeks ago. At that time, because of failing health of both he and his sister, it became necessary to try to care for them in some other way than in their own home.
On December 22, 1941, he and his sister were admitted to the Aase Haugen home for the aged, where he has been until his death on January 8, 1942.
Preceding him in death was one sister and other relatives who remained in Norway. Left to mourn his passing is one sister, Carrie, and other more distant relatives and friends.
