OBITUARY: Martin Johnson, 1882-1943
Martin Johnson, age 61, died at his home in Mason City last Thursday evening following an illness of about three years. He had been confined to his bed for a month.
Mr. Johnson was born February 22, 1882, in Cedar Township, Mitchell county, Iowa to John N. and Jane Nelson Johnson. He moved to Mason City about 35 years ago. He never married and his widowed sister, Mrs. Belle Carroll, Mason City, made her home with him for a number of years.
Surviving is a brother, Edward E. Johnson, of Springer, NM, a former Osage clothing merchant; also a sister, Mrs. Belle Carroll, of Mason City, and several nephews and nieces.
His parents, a brother, Nicholai Johnson, well-known Meroa resident, and a sister, Mrs. Caroline Smalley, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Patterson Funeral home in Mason City and at 2:30 at the Rock Creek Lutheran church. The Rev. Rogness, pastor of the deceased, conducted the services. Burial was in the Rock Creek cemetery.
Edward Johnson came from Springer, NM, to be present at the last rites.

#2:Martin Johanson Johnson was born February 22, 1882 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Johan Nikolai Johnson and Jorand Engebritsdatter Qvisle, the youngest of their five children.
Martin was baptized on April 9, 1882 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. He was confirmed there on August 30, 1896. Martin never married, nor had children.

1895: Martin Johnson age 13.
1900: Johanes N Johason 59, Jane Johason 59, Martin Johason 18, Samual Edison 22, Elizabeth Edison 15.Found in the 1910 - 1930 censuses at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa living with his sister Belle:
1910: John Carroll 38, Belle Carroll 38, Martin Johnsen 28.
1925: Bell A Carroll 53, Martin J Johnson 42, Sadie Turner 63.
1930: Bell A Carroll 58, Martin Johnson 48.
1940: Martin Johnson age 58, working as a painter.Martin Johanson Johnson died December 2, 1943 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
